Well here we are with just a little over a week before Christmas, and I’m already dreading it being over. Every year I have all these grand plans for Christmas, and somehow it just passes by in a whirlwind. A whirlwind of running here and there, shopping, baking, Christmas cards. I have to admit I totally dig it though. I like the busyness and having a special day to look forward to. I’m always sad when it’s all over.
One of the things I’ve wanted to do for years is go see the play “A Christmas Carol”again. Clif and I went about 30 years ago (30 freakin years!!!) and, even though I was sick at the time, we had a great time. So when my friend Jennifer invited me to go this year, I jumped all over it! It did not disappoint!! It was AH-MA-ZING!!! We laughed, we cried (well I cried. Damn hormones), we clapped, we cheered. We had a blast!! If you’ve never been to see Ira David Wood III in “A Christmas Carol”, you’ve gotta make it happen!
Now if you know me, you know I started looking for an outfit for the show the minute I was invited to go. Yes Janice, I had plenty in my closet to wear, but where’s the fun in that?? I found these gorgeous lace pants while shopping JCrew online. They are actually pull-on pants with some elastic in the back. That should mean super comfortable, unless you believe the Reviews saying they run big so you order a size down. What a Dummy!!!
So I had these beautiful pants and was searching for the perfect top, sweater, etc. to complete my look. Then BAM, it hit me like a lightning bolt from the Fashion Gods. I had to have a black sweater vest! As is often the case, I knew exactly what I wanted but couldn’t find it anywhere. But this girl was like a dog with a bone. I just couldn’t let it go. The hunt was on!!! When I finally found this classic merino wool vest at Brooks Brothers, I was as excited as a fat kid in a chocolate factory. It was just what I was looking for!
Now what to put under my sweet little vest? I tried my standard white blouse, but it just wasn’t tripping my trigger. I needed more. I needed something a little more special. This bow blouse hit the nail on the head. I totally lucked up and found this beauty at The Polo Outlet for a mere $30!! I just love her!!!
I knew from the beginning my block heel Mary Janes would add a touch of badass to this otherwise sweet outfit. Unfortunately I forgot how dang high these heels are! Lord my dogs were barking by the time we walked from the parking garage to the auditorium. Oh the sacrifices we make for fashion.
While it took some doing, I was so happy with how my outfit came together.
My friend Jennifer is always styled like a million bucks. For this occasion she paired her leather leggings with a classic black silk blouse and a beautiful tartan plaid cape. She completed her look with adorable plaid flats adorned with fur Pom poms. Pure perfection!
Cheers to my friend Jennifer for inviting me to the show, and cheers to you and yours this final week before Christmas!! Enjoy it while it lasts!
