Happy 2019 everybody!!! For me January has always brought with it a mixed bag of emotions. Part of me is a bit depressed because the holiday season has come to an end. The other part of me is excited for what the new year may hold. All those resolutions that I didn’t stick to in 2018 seem achievable once again. Well, at least until February. Like Sarah Bareilles sings “Distill a whole year down into a day. Act like we can all start over with a pristine slate.” The new year is our chance to improve, even if just by a little. Wipe that slate clean.
So, what do I wish to change or improve in 2019? Hmmmm…let me see…
1. Get back to (or somewhere in the neighborhood of) my normal weight. I am the queen of gaining and losing and gaining and losing the same 30-45lbs. At 5’2” every bit of extra weight shows. I know ya’ll haven’t noticed (hard eye roll here), but I weigh quite a lot more than Antoinette. Yes, I am aware that there are many different body types and each one is beautiful. I’m also aware that I shouldn’t compare myself to anyone else. Do you have any idea how freaking hard that is when you have an identical twin that looks like you used to look. How you WANT to look. Being known as the “fat twin” is no fun at all people!!! I just want to look and feel like myself again.
2. I gotta make my own damn happiness!! I have to quit waiting for something or someone to bring me joy. I have to create it for myself. Not exactly sure how, but I’m working on it. Maybe I’ll buy a book on that and actually read it.
My boys are one of my true sources of joy. Here they are helping me ring in the New Year. It really is the simple things that mean the most.
3. I need to earn/save more money. I’ve always said that if I could get paid for what I’m good at, I’d be a millionaire. Unfortunately, it is illegal in most states (wink wink). Soooo, I’ll need to come up with another plan. I was very much hoping that this little blog of ours would take off and kick a few coins into my dusty bank account. Tick-tock Tick-tock. I’m still waiting my friends. How about ya’ll help a sista out?
My other option is to spend less money on crap I do NOT need. I could literally wear what I have in my closet and not repeat an outfit for at least 3 months. When I tell you I have a lot of clothes and shoes, I ain’t lying. I’m gonna learn to shop my own closet and be content with what I already have.
4. You all know how much I love my Diet Mt. Dew, wine, Monster Drinks and beer. Doesn’t that sound super healthy? Lol. I especially love my Diet Dew. I don’t drink coffee, so my soda provides me the caffeine necessary to make it through my life. I know it is filled with crappy chemicals and artificial sweeteners, but I don’t think about that when I’m pouring it down my pie hole. I may not cut it completely out of my diet, but I can certainly reduce the amount I consume and replace it with good old water.
Wine has become for me my sleep aide/Xanax. And, if I stop at 1-2 glasses all is right with the world. Things start to go sideways around about glass #3 (which is really the last 1/3rd of the bottle. Who really pours a 5oz glass?!). At that point all bets are off. My mood can range anywhere from horny to sad to pissed to passed out. It all depends on the type of day I have had. I don’t drink every day, but I could definitely drink less. A bonus will be that it will help me reach my weight loss goal faster.
So there it is. My intentions for 2019 all in print. Kind of scary but exciting all at the same time. Hopefully this year brings each of you all that you ever hoped for.
