Here it is Fit Friday again, and we survived our first week back to school! Can I get a Woop Woop!! How’s it going with last week’s challenge to drink more water and less crap, like Diet Sodas?? I would LOVE to report that I have killed it this week, but I’m not gonna lie to my friends. 😜 Honestly getting all my water in continues to be a struggle, but I’m really, really trying. I mean that’s all we can do, right?
Now that we’re working on drinking our water, let’s talk about some healthy eating. Several years back I decided to “Eat Clean”. That can mean a lot of different things, but for me it meant trying to eat things that were minimally processed. Ya know, eat what God intended us to eat, fruits, vegetables, lean meat, etc. I stuck with that game plan (with some cheats here and there) for about 4 months and lost about 8 pounds. I wasn’t super rigid with it. I just tried my best to make healthier choices. I am desperately trying to get back to that plan. Just feeling like I’m in control of what goes in my mouth (don’t be dirty) makes me feel so much better about myself.
So today I want to share a few of my favorite low carb, “Cleanish” recipes with y’all. I will link ya over to the site where you can get the full ingredients list and the how to. Please give them a try! I promise you won’t be disappointed!
These Scrambled Egg Muffins from Six Sisters Stuff make eating a healthy breakfast easy. Make these guys on Sunday, and you’ve got breakfast ready to go for the rest of the week. You can put in whatever trips your trigger. I added sausage, peppers and spinach. Yum, Yum!
How many of ya grew up on good ole salmon cakes? These Low Carb Salmon Burgers from Primavera Kitchen are a healthier, fancier version that includes an avocado cream sauce. You can’t go wrong with an avocado cream sauce! It does require almond flour, which some of you may not have in your pantry, but everything else is pretty standard. Add in the cole slaw and you’ve got a full meal.
Man oh man, I cannot tell you how much I LOVE these Low Carb Meatballs from I Save A to Z!!! This is definitely one of my favorite healthy recipes! These meatballs are made from a combo of ground beef and sausage and have an abundance of flavor! You won’t believe what holds these bad boys together! Go check it out!
One thing I really struggled with while eating low carb was finding snacks other than freaking almonds or straight up meat. These Keto Pizza Chips from Moscato Mom hit the spot. They are beyond easy to make and help curb your chip cravings. Dip them in some pizza sauce and eat em up!
Another tasty snack option are these Pickle Rollups from The Sisters Kitchen. I actually had these as an appetizer at someone’s party and fell in love. This is such a simple snack that includes only three ingredients- ham, cream cheese and dill pickles. I haven’t made these in a while. Now I’m gonna be craving them!
Oh My Goodness this right here is a game changer!!! I could eat it by the spoonful. I made this Whipped Cream Cheese Dessert for my boys, and we used it as a dip for strawberries. It’s perfect for when you just have to have something sweet. One recipe makes enough to last several days. Try not to eat it all in one sitting.
There ya have it! Eating healthier doesn’t have to mean baked chicken and steamed vegetables. There are so many awesome recipes out there. I sure hope y’all will enjoy these as much as I have.
