Fit Friday Once Again

Here it is Fit Friday Once again. You may remember that the last Fit Friday I posted I was about to embark upon my weight loss journey.  I wanted to try a new approach so I chose the Noom App.  How’s it going?  So far so good.

Noom takes a psychological approach to losing unwanted pounds.  Each day you receive 4-5 articles to read.  The articles contain information that is relevant to how you are probably feeling on that certain day.  I guess they have done enough research to know when you may be getting discouraged or when you hit the dreaded plateau.  They also tackle the reasons behind why you overeat.  I like checking in each day and seeing what new things I can learn.

Noom also assigns you a Goal Specialist whose job it is to check in on you once or twice a week to help you reach and set new goals.  I still haven’t figured out if this is an actual human or a robot.  Either way, I have not found this feature to be terribly helpful.  The main reason being, they are only available Monday-Friday from 9-5.  Ummm, I am working during those hours as are most folks.  In the 3rd week of the program (next week for me) you are added to a group of other Noomers (that’s what they call you) that have similar weight loss goals as you.  This group is available 24/7 or as long as someone chooses to answer.  I am looking forward to making this connection.

When I signed-up for the program there was a free 2 week trial.  I am not sure if that is still available or not.  Once my 2 weeks are up (today), the program will cost me $150 for 6 months.  I am going for it!! I mean, that breaks down to $25/month.  Hell, I piss that away like it is nothing anyway.  I might as well put the money towards something worthwhile. 

So far I am down 6 pounds in 9 days, but I have been really REALLY good.  I mean like no alcoholic beverages in 13 days good.  I am damn proud of myself people!

My favorite thing I’ve learned from all the info I have sifted through so far is the “Oh well” statement.  If you get on the scale (which they ask you to do daily and record your weight on the app) and haven’t lost any weight “Oh well”.  If you blow your calorie allotment one day (mine is 1200/day) “Oh well”.  Just start fresh tomorrow.  I like that Noom knows your eating sometimes goes off the rails, but that is NO REASON TO GIVE UP.  This is a marathon not a sprint, and every change made towards a healthier you is so worth it.

  1. You got this, girl! So proud of you. Hang in there and use those Noom resources to keep you going. It sounds like a great program, although 1200 calories sounds very low, like what do you eat after three pieces of lettuce and a cup of Ranch?! Cheering you on from here!

    1. Thanks Amy! I am now down almost 8lbs. It definitely is NOT easy, but I do feel better. Just gotta keep on keeping on.

  4. I’m with ya girl!! Not doing Noom but on a journey of better fitness. I decided to call it that instead of weight loss (which is good cause I haven’t dropped a pound)…haven’t stopped the wine 🍷 though…pretty sure that’s my demise…I look forward to seeing your progress 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
