Anjanette’s Turn

There are many great things about being a woman: using our feminine wiles, having babies, changing our minds, etc. One of my favorite girlie things is make-up!  What can’t you do with it? If you want to look sweet and natural, you got it. If you prefer a sultry look, check. It’s all in what products you use and how you apply them.

1. 2. 3.) The proper brushes can make all the difference when contouring. This flatbrush (1) I found by Sonja Kashuk helps you apply the dark color under your chin, down the sides of your nose, or under your cheekbones very easily.  The fan brush (2) sweeps the perfect amount of highlighter to the bridge of your nose, the top of the cheekbone, and down the center of your neck. The key to contouring is blend, blend and blend some more. A large make-up brush (3) works best for this.

4.) Now I am a self-proclaimed cosmetics junkie! I love the promise that a new product holds. I have found many items that do not deliver on their promises, but I have found a few wonderful ones that do.  One of those is Laura Gellar Spackle Primer in the Champagne color.  The name tells you exactly what it does.  It fills in pores and leaves your skin smooth and ready for your favorite foundation. The color gives you a subtle glow.

5.) Make-up also has magical powers.  You can change the shape of your face without going under the knife.  Do this by darkening areas you want to recede and highlighting the parts you want to stand out.  This is called contouring.  Is your nose wider than you like? Darken the outside and highlight the middle. Too round of a face (like me)? Darken around the chin and suddenly it looks thinner.  My favorite contour palette is this one by Maybelline. The dark shade is not too dark and the highlighter is not overly shiny/sparkly.

6. 7.) Now, because I clean houses every day, I don’t always put on a full face of make-up. One thing I always apply before I leave for work or play is lipgloss.  I am never without my two favorite ones. The first is Tarte Lip Surgence in Flush (7). I love it because it is a little sticky which helps keep it on your lips longer than most glosses.  The second (6)is NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake.  I tried this thanks to one of my favorite ASMR stars Maria from Gentle Whispering ASMR. If you don’t know what ASMR is, go to YouTube and check it out.  Anyway, Maria’s coloring is similar to mine and she uses this gloss.  The color and consistency are perfect. Not too pink. Not too brown. Never orange!

8.) Again, thanks to my job, I cannot keep nail polish on for more than a few days.  When I do take the time to paint them, I repeatedly go for Essie Polish in the shade Ballet Slipper.  It is a wonderfully neutral pink that looks good on all skin tones and with most outfits.  Also, a lighter color doesn’t show chips as easily as a darker shade.

I hope you will try out some of my favs and let me know whatcha think. Friday it’s Raenette’s turn, so don’t forget to join us then. Thank you so much for stopping by!!
