Styling It: Jean Jacket

With this yo yo weather that we’ve been having in NC, a jacket is a wardrobe must! And what’s better than a versatile jean jacket??? Now I used to be a jean jacket virgin until I found this lightweight one from Target, and I was an instant convert! Now I’m wondering how I managed without one all these years. It goes with virtually everything!

I bought this pair of mustard colored jeans earlier in the season from TJMaxx, but don’t worry if they’re no longer available. There are several options available online. These too have become a wardrobe staple, and go perfectly with my new jean jacket. For an edgier look, I paired them with a short sleeved white tshirt from Kohl’s. As you can see, this is not your run of the mill tshirt. It has a sassy criss cross design, and the material is soft and non-clinging. So, it’s a double win! Remember my Moon & Lola Mr T necklace from Christmas?? Well, here it is again. Nothing can spice up an outfit faster than a big bold necklace. And, yes, you can rock one too! Break out of those chains, and let that Grandma bun down!

For my next outfit, I paired my 2 wardrobe staples with a cute sleeveless black floral top from Loft (Similar Here). How many of you ladies have or had a mama who thought everything had to be matchy matchy like Garanimals? Me too!! Now, if she had seen this outfit, the first words out of her mouth would have been “that doesn’t match”, and I would’ve said, “but it goes together”, and she would have replied “but it doesn’t match.” Lol! So, after being brainwashed for all these years, I still struggle with the matchy matchy thing, but I’m working on it. Baby steps. Isn’t it great how just a few small switch ups can change the whole vibe of an outfit.  Shazam!! You’ve gone from bad ass to PTA mom in the blink of an eye.

Now jean jackets not only go great with jeans/pants, but they can look equally as great with dresses/skirts. You may also recall (I’m sure you have all my photos & posts committed to memory) this black dress with the beautiful floral embroidery from Free People. Check out how the jeanjacket just adds that little oomph and a pop of color too.  Now, because it was still chilly on the day when these photos were taken, I chose my black Frye boots. If I had taken these photos today, when it’s a warm sunny 71 degrees, I would have strapped on some gladiator sandals or sassy wedges. Either way, you’ll look sharp rockin’ your jean jacket.

Don’t own a jean jacket??Run directly to Target, do not pass Go & do not collect $200!! You will be glad you did!
