Sometimes vacation is fun, sometimes it’s crazy, sometimes it is relaxing, and sometimes it is stressful. This past 2 weeks has been all of the above.
When you are self-employed as I am, taking time off means no money coming in. That can be very stressful and has caused me to pass up on some fun opportunities in the past. Well not this time my friends. I threw caution to the wind, jumped in my 12 year old van with 200,000 miles on it and headed to the beach. I mean, you only live once. Right?
What is that face??? Lol!
My first week was spent with my guy, Lindsay and his mom and dad at Nags Head. We spent our days lying on the beach, going out to eat, listening to music, drinking beer and margaritas, laughing, sitting in the hot tub and gazing up at the stars. It was a wonderfully relaxing week that we rarely get together. A big thank you to his folks for inviting me to come along.
Me and my big boy Bryce
Poor skinny fox! We were scared he would snatch a baby from the pool. Lol
View from our balcony
This is as close as you will get to a picture of me in a bikini. Lol!
I left Nags Head on Saturday morning, drove 3 hours to my sister’s in Clayton and picked-up Bryce. We then headed to Ocean Isle with Antoinette and Charlie. Our younger boys and Clif stayed behind to play/watch baseball. As the saying goes, you make plans and God laughs. Sometimes you just have to accept that there are things you can’t predict or prevent. You just have to learn to roll with the punches. We had fun playing Yahtzee, Farkle, and cards. Our condo had a lovely view of the ocean from its balcony. We even had 2 foxes that lived in the brush on the dunes behind our complex.
Nathan and Daniel being silly on the beach.
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to spend time at the beach with my boys together. Bryce had to leave on Tuesday, and Nathan, Daniel, and Clif arrived late that same night. Nathan got 1 whole day at Ocean Isle before we had to head back to Antoinette’s and get into baseball mode. My boy was such a good sport through all of the delays and back and forth.
Headed to Nathan’s tournament in Cary. Ain’t I the cutest?!?!
The Home Run ball!!!
We played the last tournament of our season in Cary from Thursday-Sunday. The highlight of the weekend came Friday night. Nathan pitched 5 really good innings against a team from Virginia with a 17-1 record. Well, by the end of the night, they were 17-2. He also hit his 3rd out of the park home run of the season. It was a great game. Unfortunately, we lost both games on Saturday and were eliminated from playing on Sunday. That’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. You win some. You lose some.
Although I thoroughly enjoyed being on vacation, it is always nice to get back home. I’ll see you next summer, beaches!!!
